Lenovo is all set to launch Moto G5 in India on April 4. It was announced along with Moto G5 Plus during Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. Moto G5 Plus was launched recently in India exclusively through Flipkart.
The G line up from Moto is considered Budget smartphones.
The Moto G5 is the cheaper variant of the Moto G5 Plus and comes with discounted specifications for its price. While there is little difference in the screen size where the G5 comes with a 5-inch screen the G5 plus comes with a 5.2-inch screen.
While the Moto G5 plus is powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC the Moto G5 is powered by the 2015’s Snapdragon 430 coupled with 2/3 GB of RAM. they could have gone for the more recent Snapdragon 435 processor but Lenovo chose to stick with Snapdragon 430.
Unlike previous years Moto G smartphones, Lenovo opted for a metal Body instead of plastic which gives the phone more premium look and doesn’t feel like a budget smartphone. The fingerprint scanner in the front can also be used for navigating through the user interface with swipes.
Moto G5 sports a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture. the primary camera can record video at 1080P@30Fps and has PDAF along with auto HDR mode. This device runs the latest version of Android out of the box and offers the pure Android experience that Moto has been doing for years.
Moto retains some of its iconic gestures and tricks to toggle camera and Flash. This whole package is powered by a removable 2800 mAh battery.

Moto G4 vs Moto G5:
At this price, Last years Moto G4 offers Snapdragon 617 which is a better processor than the snapdragon 430 present in the Moto G5 and G4 offers a better camera than the G5 along with a bigger screen of size 5.5-inches. The only major differences between these two devices are the metal body and the fingerprint scanner.
The Moto G5 is clearly aimed at the Budget smartphone user but the competition like Xiaomi and other Chinese companies offer a lot more for the same price than Motorola. It should be very tough for Motorola to attract buyers.
