20 October 2016, was the day when all the world was looking at Nintendo for the unveiling of one of the most innovative gaming console which would change the way you play games. Nintendo Switch was a Gaming console that made Hand-Held gaming systems popular again. On 27 April 2017 Nintendo announced Nintendo 2DS XL.
Nintendo 2DS XL is the part of Nintendo’s 3DS lineup. It sits right between the Recently announced 3DS XL and the Cheaper 2DS. Nintendo 2DS XL will be available in the US from June 28 for $149.99 and in Austraila/ NewZeland on June 15.
2DS XL is basically the cheaper version of 3DS XL without 3D imaging. Everything else remains same. Users can play all the games available for 3DS on the Nintendo 2DS XL. In a Press Release Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO said: “This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market,”.
It sports a beautiful large screen which was previously seen on 3DS XL and has built-in NFC support for amiibo cards and figures. Gamers can play the massive library of quality Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS games in 2D.
Nintendo 2DS XL will launch along with 2 Titles Hey! PIKMIN! and Miitopia with more titles to come in the future. The button layout on the 2DS XL is same as we have seen on other DS gaming systems from Nintendo. It will also feature parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access.
Although Nintendo is trying all it can to breath some life into the hand-held gaming community and have seen success with the likes of Nintendo Switch, But due to the lack of Gaming titles to keep you busy and with the rise in the quality of mobiles games which are available for free, it would be quite difficult. But Nintendo is aiming for the specific niche of gamers who love their style of games like animal crossing, Mario maker etc.
